Months ago, my friend/housekeeper and I were talking about Israel. I was talking about a Messianic Jew (a Jewish person that recognizes that Jesus is their awaited Messiah) who I highly respect, Jonathan Cahn. I’ve read his books and I read his devotional, Saffire’s. It surprised me to learn what she believes. She said, “The Jews killed Him (Jesus).”
Only, the Jews aren’t the only ones who killed Jesus. Others had a hand in His death as well. Pontius Pilate and the Roman soldiers. in fact, all of humanity. The truth is, He willingly laid down His life. Let’s take a closer look at the reason why Christ Jesus came to earth. I pray you find encouragement through this short blog.
About Sin
No one could follow the Ten Commandments perfectly, which is why a priest offered a yearly sacrifice for the sins of the Jewish people. The priest went into the Holy of Holies with bells on the fringes of his priestly garments. The reason for this was to alert those waiting outside the Holy place. If the bells stopped ringing it meant God had struck him dead. Only by purifying himself from sin could the priest enter the Holy place and live. If the bells stopped ringing, those waiting outside had to drag him out from the Holy of Holies by a rope tied around his ankle.
Upon Christ death on the cross, the curtain separating us from entering the Holy of Holies was rent from top to bottom. The curtain being rent broke the barrier between us and God, enabling us to go directly to God through Jesus, our Great High Priest. For He alone is perfect. He alone is our Mediator. This is the reason Christ Jesus came to earth.
What Do the Scriptures Teach
Over the years I’ve heard people mention the immaculate conception, and I recently learned what that means. Many believe that Mary was born without sin. That she was holy. Upon studying, I found the concept of an immaculate conception unbiblical. Nowhere in scripture does it teach that Mary was without sin. The scriptures plainly teach, “None is righteous, no, not one'” Romans 3:10 (ESV).
And here, in Romans 3:21 – 25 (ESV), it speaks of the righteousness of God, given through faith in Jesus Christ is to all who believe. That there is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and that all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption (forgiveness of sins) that came by Christ Jesus.
The Lord’s prayer starts with, “Our Father who art in heaven…” It doesn’t teach that we should pray to Mary of to saints, for all who are in Christ are saints–God’s people. Scripture teaches that Christ Jesus was fully human and fully God. His humanity is the reason that He is able to identify with our weaknesses. Mary called Jesus, God and Savior. Why? She needed a Savior, just like the rest of humanity. She needed to have her sins forgiven.
An Angel Visits Mary
“You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”
“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”
The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God” Luke 1:31-35 (NIV).
Mary prayed this beautiful prayer. “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed; for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name” Luke 1:46-49 ESV.
The Bible teaches that only the Son of God was holy.
God’s Only Son
No one could obey the Ten Commandments completely, which is why God sent His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him may have eternal life (John 3:16 – emphasis mine). It’s why Christ Jesus came to earth as a ransom for our sin.
Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” Tree of Life Bible (TLV). All, includes Mary. Jesus bled and died for ALL sinners. Jews, and Gentiles alike. And here’s the clincher. Anyone can come to Christ by faith. You must believe that God sent His one and only Son, who died and rose again. All who call upon the name of the Lord Jesus, will be saved, including Jews.
God’s Grace
You know, Jesus’ disciples were Jews. They went into the highways and byways and compelled people to come into fellowship with Jesus–to be born again. In His great mercy, God sent Christ Jesus to earth as the Savior of the world, born in a humble manger.
All God’s promises are yes and amen! Not one of His promises will fail to come to pass.
The Greatest Gift
This is why we celebrate Christmas, friends. God’s perfect gift to humankind was His Son, Jesus, who sits at the right hand of the throne of God. Jesus is the reason for the season. What a great hope we have! For ultimately, Christ Jesus will come again! Hallelujah!
Lord, thank you for coming to earth, born in a stable, and dying for our sins. Thank you for making a way for mankind to come to You for forgiveness, that we may receive eternal life. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!
Have a Blessed Day and a Very Merry Christmas!

Thank you so much for commenting, and I’m sorry it’s taken so long for me to reply! I haven’t been on my blog for months, but realize that I need to get back to it. I’ve been busy working on my newest novel which takes place in 1800 Ireland, a historical novel. Anyway, I’m praying the Lord brings words He wants me to share next.
